“My paints are made by hand, using techniques which date back to the days of the Old Masters. There is a very simple reason for this painstaking process. As an artist and painter I wanted to create colours that were true and vibrant, and paint which was beautiful and durable.
The greater the pigment content of a paint the greater the resistance it has to fading. Nearly all manufacturers use various fillers to extend the volume of the oil paint. It may increase profits but it compromises on quality. I totally refuse to do this. Why make something exceptional and then dilute it?
I will not claim that my paints will turn you into a great painter, but I can promise they will have a profound effect on your work. Your colours will be stronger and richer, and you will find the texture of the paint incomparable. You will love working with them.”
Try them. You will be amazed.
OLD HOLLAND Classic Colors has more than three centuries traditional experience in the manufacturing of artists paints…
..and during that period it has proved that nothing beats the quality of traditional recipes. Our professional staff work every day with love and devotion to create a superior product. Partly as a result of this, many artists who work with our products realize the end result that they are working to achieve. Our name has for many years been a household name among artists in the Netherlands and abroad, and this is something we are very proud of.
Our products are used over the whole world, including for restoration work. We export to more than 50 countries. Our paint is even used by the Dutch Royal family. The Dutch master painter Albert Roelofs (one of the former directors of the company) taught painting to Queen Wilhelmina and her daughter, Princess Juliana.
In Driebergen (the Netherlands), where our company has been located since 1980, we have set up a museum containing old tools, antique pigments and resins, many of which originate from the rich history of Old Holland Classic Colours. You are welcome to visit the museum by appointment.”

The Maimeri company was founded in 1923 in Milan by the artist Gianni with the help of his brother Charles, an industrial chemist. Gianni had not been happy with the artist paint then available and knew he could make superior color. He began manufacturing with the standard process then available. The company continued to grow, but within a few years, the company was struggling with one of the most terrible moments that the world economy has gone through. To survive the crisis of 1929 Maimeri was forced to innovate and improve, managing to successfully overcome the period of the “Black Tuesday”. These innovations lead to a technologically superior way of manufacturing artists color.
Technology, tradition and innovation are the hallmarks that have always characterized Maimeri and, in recent years, the ongoing studies of laboratory research and development have allowed the introduction of new ranges of color. Maimeri has continued to expand its facilities in anticipation of the growing challenges of the coming years. In this way, starting from a small workshop in the twenties, the company has managed to achieve its precise scope and space in the national and international market of products for fine arts. The area currently occupied by the structure and services of the company has reached 11,300 square meters and the warehouse makes use of new information technologies applied to the operations of storage and shipping. Maimeri not only manufacturers the finest artists colors on the market, but also offers an extensive range of mediums and specialty products.
